Sadly, the Wandering Workshops day and Heart Lifting Folklore concert are not going ahead as planned. There were not enough registrations to cover our financial obligations.
We often don’t know why things don’t work out; sometimes we don’t know why they do.
One of my friends expressed it this way, “That really sucks.” It warmed my heart because it echoed my own feelings.
On the up side, it was a great deal of fun organizing the whole event. There is great artistic satisfaction in creating flyers and brochures. Seriously. I learned some new stuff and wrote rhymes and poems. Sometimes we met for business lunches. I don’t get to do that very often. And I made a new friend. Priceless.
As I’m tapping this out, my mind is multi-tasking. World Storytelling Day is on March 21st and the theme is “Water.” Members of the Baden Storytellers’ Guild are performing at the Waterloo Region Museum in Kitchener on the 19th and 20th in the afternoon.
The ArtBar in Hamilton is preparing an event. Tongues Wagging (Glenna Janzen and Caroleigh Wehking) is performing in Cambridge. And there are more around the world. Take a look at the website: www.freewebs.com/worldstorytellingday/
Stories don’t all end with a ‘happily ever after.’ They can end with ‘somewhat happily after.’ But one thing we can count on: they never end.
